I feel privileged to have known Pegi. she was just the kindest and most gentle of souls that I have ever known. In the smallest of her gestures, she made genuine connections. When I was going through my own cancer procedure, I didn’t tell anyone about it. I couldn’t make it to book club because I was recovering from surgery and just said I couldn’t make it because I’d had a surgical procedure. Pegi called me up right away and gently asked about it. When I lost my job, she again called and talked me through some tough times and made inquiries on my behalf with her connections. And my favourite memory was the afternoon I took off work to go kayaking with her on Lake Ontario. My gosh but is was a windy day on the waters and between that and the traffic the crossings were challenging. She persevered and I know it took all of my strength to finish the crossing back. I was so impressed by her strength—and I don’t mean just physical. It was a lovely afternoon communing with nature.
