Pegi was a wonderful person. I remember once seeing her in the corner of a coffee shop I was in with the boyfriend who would later be my husband.  She seemed to be in an important meeting, so I just waved, but of course Pegi jumped up and came over to introduce herself. She was so kind that even though it was a short conversation, for years afterwards if her name came up my husband would always say ‘oh, Pegi, such a nice person!’. I am sure Pegi meant a lot of things to a lot of people, but for me she will always be the person who couldn’t let her friends’ daughter walk by without interrupting a work meeting to say hello and meet her new boyfriend, and she took such a genuine interest in other people that even the briefest of encounters could leave a lasting impression.
